Idris Ackamoor is an American multi-instrumentalist and composer, best known as the founder and artistic director of the jazz ensemble The Pyramids. The group was formed in the early 1970s at Antioch College in Ohio and is renowned for its unique blend of jazz and African musical influences. Notable albums include "Lalibela" (1973), "King of Kings" (1974), and "Birth / Speed / Merging" (1976). After disbanding in 1977, the group reunited several times, releasing albums such as "We Be All Africans" (2016) and "Afro Futuristic Dreams" (2023).
