Isao Suzuki is a Japanese jazz double bassist, composer, arranger, and bandleader. Born on January 2, 1933, in Tokyo, he began his musical career in 1956, playing double bass at a U.S. military base in Tokyo. In 1970, encouraged by Art Blakey, he moved to New York and joined the Jazz Messengers. After returning to Japan, he founded his own band, 'OMA SOUND,' and released the album 'Self-Portrait' in 1980, on which he played over 20 instruments.
