Ivan Rebroff, born Hans Rolf Rippert in Berlin, was a German singer renowned for his extraordinary vocal range spanning four octaves. He studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. Rebroff gained fame for performing Russian folk songs, but his repertoire also included opera and folk songs from various countries. Throughout his career, he performed over 6,000 concerts, including a two-year engagement at the Théâtre Marigny in Paris, where he portrayed Tevye in the musical Fiddler on the Roof. Rebroff considered himself a bridge between East and West and was an honorary citizen of the Greek island of Skopelos.
