Jan Gunnar Hoff is a Norwegian jazz pianist, composer, and professor who has released 25 albums and composed 250 works. He has collaborated with artists such as Alex Acuña, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, and Maria João. In 2005, he received the Edvard Grieg Prize for his jazz mass Meditatus. In 2013, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for the album Quiet Winter Night as arranger and musical director. In 2014, he received the Buddy Award, the highest distinction in Norwegian jazz, and became an official Steinway Artist. He serves as a professor at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø and the University of Agder in Kristiansand.
