Janne Mertanen is a Finnish pianist born in Joensuu. He studied at the Joensuu Conservatory under Matti Haapasalo and at the Sibelius Academy with Erik T. Tawaststjerna. He furthered his studies with Dmitri Bashkirov and Lazar Berman. Specializing in the works of Frédéric Chopin, he made his debut at London's Wigmore Hall in 1994 with a Chopin program. His recordings of Chopin's nocturnes earned him the Grand Prix du Disque Frédéric Chopin in Warsaw in 2005. Mertanen also serves as the artistic director of the Joensuun Musiikkijuhlat music festival. The products available from the artist Janne Mertanen include CDs.
