Jean-Féry Rebel was a French Baroque composer and violinist, known for his innovative compositions. Born on April 18, 1666, in Paris, he was a student of Jean-Baptiste Lully. In 1699, he became the first violinist at the Académie royale de musique and later served as a court composer for Louis XIV. His notable works include "Les Élémens," "Les Caractères de la Danse," and "La Terpsichore." Rebel was among the first French composers to write sonatas in the Italian style, and his works are characterized by bold harmonies and complex rhythms. He passed away on January 2, 1747, in Paris.
