Jefferson Airplane was an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1965. Considered pioneers of psychedelic rock, the group defined the San Francisco sound and achieved international commercial success. Their second album, "Surrealistic Pillow" (1967), features the hits "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit," both of which reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The original lineup included Marty Balin (vocals), Paul Kantner (guitar, vocals), Grace Slick (vocals, keyboards), Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitar, vocals), Jack Casady (bass guitar), and Spencer Dryden (drums). The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
