The album blends elements of alternative rock, indie rock, and alt-country. Prior to this release, Mayfield released the EP "I Hope You Make It" in December 2019. In 2024, he opened for artists such as John Moreland and The Mountain Goats. His music is characterized by introspective lyrics and an experimental approach to the genre.
