John Calvin Abney is an American musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and producer. Born in Reno, Nevada, he grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he learned to play guitar and piano. During his studies at the University of Oklahoma, he began collaborating with various artists and released three EPs: "Without Wax" (2012), "Empty Candles" (2014), and "Vice Versa Suite" (2015). His debut album, "Better Luck," was released in 2015, followed by "Far Cries and Close Calls" (2016), "Coyote" (2018), and "Safe Passage" (2019). Abney is known for his alternative folk style and has collaborated with artists such as John Moreland and Samantha Crain.
