empty cell John Carter
John Carter was an American jazz clarinetist and composer, known for his contributions to free jazz and avant-garde music. In 1970, he released the album "Self Determination Music" with trumpeter Bobby Bradford, considered a significant contribution to the free jazz movement. The album features four tracks: "The Sunday Afternoon Jazz Blues Society," "The Eye Of The Storm," "Loneliness," and "Encounter." Carter's ability to control the altissimo register and his innovative use of multiphonics on the clarinet were admired. His collaboration with Bradford and their contributions to the Los Angeles jazz scene in the 1960s and 1970s are still appreciated today.
