Johnny Alf, born Alfredo José da Silva, was a Brazilian musician known as the "Father of Bossa Nova". Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began playing piano at age 9. His first single, "Falseta," was released in 1952, followed by his debut album "Rapaz de Bem" in 1961. Over his career, he recorded nine albums and appeared on nearly fifty others. He passed away in 2010 at the age of 80 from prostate cancer.
