Jonathan Plowright is an English pianist born in 1959 in Yorkshire. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. In 1984, he made his debut at Carnegie Hall, followed by a performance at Wigmore Hall in 1985. Plowright is renowned for his interpretations of works by Polish Romantic composers such as Zygmunt Stojowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, recording for labels like Hyperion and BIS. His notable recordings include the complete solo piano works of Johannes Brahms. He has served as a professor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and regularly conducts masterclasses.
