Julian Kytasty is an American musician of Ukrainian descent, renowned as a master of the bandura. Born in Detroit, Michigan, to a family of Ukrainian refugees, he learned the instrument from his father, grandfather, and great-uncle Hryhory Kytasty, a noted composer and conductor. In 1980, he moved to New York to become the music director of the New York Bandura Ensemble. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with artists such as Wu Man and Michael Alpert. His discography includes albums like "Black Sea Winds," "Songs of Truth," and "Nights in Banduristan."
