Julie Fowlis is a Scottish folk singer and multi-instrumentalist who sings primarily in Scottish Gaelic. She was born and raised on the island of North Uist in the Hebrides. Fowlis began her professional music career as a member of the band Dòchas. In 2005, she released her first solo album, "Mar a Tha Mo Chridhe (As My Heart Is)," which received critical acclaim. Her second album, "Cuilidh," released in 2007, was awarded Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.
