Kae Tempest is an English poet, musician, novelist, and playwright born in London in 1985. Their 2014 debut album, "Everybody Down," was nominated for the Mercury Prize, as was the 2016 follow-up, "Let Them Eat Chaos." In 2013, they received the Ted Hughes Award for their work "Brand New Ancients." Their body of work includes poetry, novels, and plays, focusing on genres such as spoken word, hip-hop, and electronic music.
