Kalevala is a Russian folk metal band formed in 2007 in Moscow. The band's name is derived from the Finnish national epic, reflecting the influence of Finnish and Sami music on their work. They released their debut album, "Kudel Belosnezhnogo L'na," in 2008, followed by "Kukushkiny Deti" (2009) and "Ved'ma" (2010). Their music combines elements of folk metal and power metal, drawing inspiration from Finnish and Ugric legends. In 2016, they embarked on their first tour outside the former Soviet Union, visiting Eastern Europe, France, and Berlin.
