After earning a master's degree in language, literature, history, and theater studies from the University of Oslo, she worked as a journalist before fully dedicating herself to music. She has released several albums, including 'Mitt ville hjerte' (1987), 'Spor' (1991), 'Norwegian Mood' (2000), and 'Ly' (2009). Her music blends elements of pop, folk, and jazz. Kari collaborated with her brothers Lars and Ola Bremnes on the album 'Soløye' (2000) and has received multiple awards, including the Spellemannprisen in 1987, 1991, and 2001.
