In 1966, he emigrated to the United States, collaborating with Don Cherry on the album "Symphony for Improvisers." In 1972, he co-founded the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, New York, with Ornette Coleman. Berger is known for his contributions to free jazz and avant-garde music, releasing albums such as "From Now On" (1966) and "Tune In" (1969). He collaborated with artists like Dave Holland and Ed Blackwell, and his work has influenced the modern jazz scene.
