King Curtis was an American saxophonist and bandleader who played rhythm and blues, soul, rock and roll, and soul jazz. He was known for his riffs and solos on hits such as "Respect" by Aretha Franklin (1967) and "Yakety Yak" by The Coasters (1958), as well as his own tracks "Soul Twist" (1962), "Soul Serenade" (1964), and "Memphis Soul Stew" (1967). He collaborated with artists like Eric Clapton, Delaney Bramlett, and Jimmy Smith. The album "Get Ready" is an instrumental rhythm & blues with 10 tracks, still rooted in the sound of the 60s.
