Koum Tara is a French-Algerian musical ensemble from Lyon that blends Algerian chaâbi with jazz and Western classical music. Their second album, "Baraaim El-louz" ("The Buds of the Almond Tree"), released in October 2023, features traditional melodies and lyrics by Mahboub Bati, Dahmane El Harrachi, and Mohamed El Badji, as well as original compositions by vocalist Hamidou (Mohamed Hamam) and Karim Maurice. The album reached the top position on the Transglobal World Music Chart in December 2023. The group is known for its innovative approach to modern chaâbi and collaboration with La Camerata.
