Lahav Shani is an Israeli conductor and pianist who has served as the chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra since 2018. Born in Tel Aviv in 1989, he studied piano and conducting in Berlin. In 2013, he won first prize at the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in Bamberg. In 2020, he became the music director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, succeeding Zubin Mehta. Notable recordings include "Weill: Symphony No. 2 & Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5" and "Bruckner: Symphony No. 5". Shani regularly collaborates with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic.
