Laraaji, born Edward Larry Gordon in 1943 in Philadelphia, is an American multi-instrumentalist specializing in the zither and mbira. In 1978, he released his debut album "Celestial Vibration" under his own name. In 1980, he collaborated with Brian Eno on the album "Ambient 3: Day of Radiance," part of Eno's ambient music series. Laraaji is known for his hypnotic improvisations on a modified zither, often performed in public spaces in New York City. Throughout his career, he has released over 50 albums and is also active as a laughter meditation instructor.
