Laura Cantrell is an American singer-songwriter born in Nashville, Tennessee. She began her music career in New York City, where she studied English at Columbia University. Her debut album, "Not the Tremblin' Kind" (2000), received critical acclaim and was named one of John Peel's favorite albums. Throughout her career, she released several other albums, including "When the Roses Bloom Again" (2002) and "Humming By the Flowered Vine" (2005). In 2023, after a nine-year hiatus, she released "Just Like a Rose: The Anniversary Sessions". Cantrell is known for her contributions to the country and folk genres and has collaborated with artists such as Steve Earle and Buddy Miller.
