Lead Belly, born Huddie William Ledbetter, was an American folk-blues singer and guitarist from Louisiana. He was renowned for his powerful voice and virtuosity on the twelve-string guitar. His repertoire included over 500 songs spanning various genres, including gospel, blues, and folk. Among his most notable songs are "Goodnight, Irene", "The Midnight Special", and "Rock Island Line". Throughout his career, he collaborated with prominent musicians such as Woody Guthrie and Sonny Terry. In 1988, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
