empty cell Leonard Grandson
Leonard Grandson is an American soul singer known for his single "The Sands of Zanzibar." The recording was made in 1977 at a studio in Hollywood, near the Capitol Records building. Producer Steve Trebbin recalls that when he presented Grandson to Capitol Records, they compared his voice to Stevie Wonder but declined, stating they already had a similar artist. Despite this, "The Sands of Zanzibar" became popular among soul, disco, and rare groove enthusiasts. In 2023, the track was reissued on a 7-inch vinyl by the label Athens Of The North.
