Leonidas Kavakos is a Greek violinist and conductor renowned for his impeccable technique and musical integrity. Born in Athens in 1967, he achieved significant recognition early in his career by winning three major international competitions: the Sibelius Competition in 1985, and both the Paganini and Naumburg Competitions in 1988. His recording of the original version of Sibelius's Violin Concerto earned him the Gramophone Concerto of the Year award in 1991. Kavakos regularly collaborates with leading orchestras and conductors worldwide and is an exclusive recording artist for Sony Classical.
