Leroy Smart is a Jamaican reggae singer and producer, renowned for his distinctive vocal style and energetic performances. Born in 1952 in Kingston, he was raised at Maxfield Park Children's Home and educated at Alpha Boys School, where he studied singing, drums, and dancing. He released his first recording, "It Pains Me," in 1969. In 1973, he achieved a breakthrough with the hit "Mother Liza," produced by Jimmy Radway. Among his most notable songs are "Pride & Ambition" and "Ballistic Affair." Throughout his career, he collaborated with producers such as Joe Gibbs, Gussie Clarke, and Bunny Lee. Smart also appeared in the film "Rockers" alongside Gregory Isaacs and Jacob Miller. With over 35 albums to his name, he is considered one of the most prominent figures in the Jamaican reggae scene.
