Lightnin' Slim, born Otis Hicks, was an American blues musician from Good Pine, Louisiana. A key figure in the "swamp blues" genre, he recorded for Excello Records during the 1950s and 60s. His 1960 debut album, "Rooster Blues," features tracks like "Rooster Blues" and "Hoo-Doo Blues." He frequently collaborated with his brother-in-law Slim Harpo and harmonica player Lazy Lester. After a hiatus from music, he was rediscovered in the 1970s and performed at European festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival. He passed away in 1974 in Detroit, Michigan.
