Linus Roth is a German violinist who received the ECHO KLASSIK award as 'Best Newcomer' in 2006 for his debut album. In 2017, he was awarded a second ECHO for his recording of the violin concertos by Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky with the London Symphony Orchestra under Thomas Sanderling. Roth specializes in discovering and rediscovering works that have undeservedly fallen into oblivion, with particular attention to the works of Mieczysław Weinberg. He has collaborated with numerous significant orchestras and conductors and is a professor of violin at the 'Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum' at the University of Augsburg. He plays the 1703 'Dancla' Stradivarius violin, on kind loan from the music foundation of the L-Bank Baden-Württemberg.
