Louis Moholo-Moholo is a South African jazz drummer born in Cape Town. He was a member of The Blue Notes, who emigrated to Europe in 1964 and settled in London. There, he became part of the South African exile community that significantly contributed to the British jazz scene. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Breath and founded groups such as Viva la Black and The Dedication Orchestra. His first album as a leader, "Spirits Rejoice," is considered a classic example of the combination of British and South African players. He has collaborated with numerous musicians, including Derek Bailey, Steve Lacy, and Evan Parker. In 2005, he returned to South Africa.
