Lucifer's Friend is a German rock band formed in Hamburg in 1970. The original lineup consisted of guitarist Peter Hesslein, vocalist John Lawton, bassist Dieter Horns, keyboardist Peter Hecht, and drummer Joachim Reitenbach. The band was known for their ability to change musical styles with each album; their debut album, "Lucifer's Friend" (1971), is considered pioneering in the heavy metal and doom metal genres. Their fourth album, "Banquet" (1974), incorporates jazz fusion elements and is regarded as their most progressive work. After several lineup changes and shifts in musical direction, the band disbanded in 1982 but reunited in 2014, continuing to perform and record.
