Luke Haines is an English musician and songwriter known as the frontman of The Auteurs, a band he formed in 1991. The group debuted with the album "New Wave" in 1993, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. They subsequently released "Now I'm a Cowboy" (1994), "After Murder Park" (1996), and "How I Learned to Love the Bootboys" (1999). Haines was also a member of projects Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder. His solo discography includes albums such as "The Oliver Twist Manifesto" (2001) and "Smash the System" (2016).
