Mad River was an American psychedelic rock band formed in April 1966 at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. They took their name from the nearby Mad River. By March 1967, they relocated to Berkeley, California, becoming part of the burgeoning hippie culture. They released an EP on the independent Wee label before signing with Capitol Records in February 1968. The band released two albums: "Mad River" (1968) and "Paradise Bar and Grill" (1969). After disbanding in July 1969, members pursued various musical projects; for instance, drummer Greg Dewey joined Country Joe and the Fish.
