Mad Season was an American rock supergroup formed in 1994 in Seattle, Washington. The band consisted of guitarist Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, vocalist Layne Staley from Alice in Chains, drummer Barrett Martin from Screaming Trees, and bassist John Baker Saunders. In March 1995, they released their only album, "Above," which featured the successful single "River of Deceit." The album achieved gold status according to the RIAA in June 1995. The band disbanded in 1999 following the death of bassist Saunders due to a drug overdose. In 2012, the remaining members briefly reunited for a benefit concert.
