Mal Waldron and Steve Lacy were prominent American jazz musicians who collaborated for nearly four decades. Waldron, a pianist, and Lacy, a soprano saxophonist, were known for their love of Thelonious Monk's music and developed a unique improvisational style. Their collaboration included albums such as "Live at Dreher, Paris 1981" and "Hot House". In 1995, to celebrate Waldron's 70th birthday, they performed in Antwerp with a quartet that also featured Reggie Workman and Andrew Cyrille.
