Malaria! was a German all-female new-wave band formed in Berlin in 1981 by Bettina Köster and Gudrun Gut. Their debut EP was recorded at Christopher Franke's studio and produced by Klaus Krüger. The band was known for their experimental approach to electronic music and post-punk sound. Notable albums include "Emotion" (1982), "Beat the Distance" (1985), and "Cheerio" (1993). Malaria! collaborated with artists such as New Order, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Birthday Party. Their track "Kaltes klares Wasser" became a hit and was re-discovered in 2001 through a remix by Chicks on Speed.
