Manny Albam was an American jazz arranger, composer, and conductor, known for his work in the big band jazz genre. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, he began his career as a saxophonist before gaining recognition as an arranger and composer. Albam collaborated with artists such as Count Basie, Stan Getz, and Dizzy Gillespie. Notable albums include "The Drum Suite" (1956), "The Jazz Workshop" (1956), and "Jazz Goes to the Movies" (1962). He was also an educator, teaching at various music schools and leading the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop.
