Mark Lockheart is a British jazz saxophonist and composer who first gained prominence in the 1980s as a member of the big band Loose Tubes. After the group's dissolution, he formed the quartet Perfect Houseplants, releasing six albums and collaborating with classical artists. In 2003, he joined the band Polar Bear, whose album "Held On The Tips Of Fingers" was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Lockheart has released several solo albums, including "Through Rose-Coloured Glasses" (1998) and "Days on Earth" (2019). He has collaborated with artists such as Django Bates, Kenny Wheeler, and Radiohead. In 2010, he was named Jazz Musician of the Year by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
