Mark Mothersbaugh is an American musician and composer, best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the band Devo, which gained fame with the hit "Whip It" in 1980. Beyond his work with Devo, he has composed music for television series, films, and video games through his production company, Mutato Muzika. Notable works include the score for the animated series Rugrats and collaborations with director Wes Anderson. In 2004, he received the Richard Kirk Award for his contributions to film and television music. In 2008, Kent State University awarded him an honorary doctorate of humane letters.
