Martyn Brabbins is a British conductor known for his support of British composers and premiering their works. He studied with Ilya Musin in St. Petersburg and won first prize at the Leeds Conducting Competition in 1988. He served as principal guest conductor of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (2009–2015) and chief conductor of the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra (2012–2016). From 2016 to 2023, he was the music director of the English National Opera. Brabbins has recorded over 120 CDs, including award-winning recordings of operas by Korngold, Birtwistle, and Harvey.
