Mel Tormé was an American singer, composer, and actor, known as the "Velvet Fog". Born in Chicago, he was a child prodigy who began performing professionally at the age of four. In 1944, he formed the vocal group The Mel-Tones, which collaborated with Artie Shaw. Tormé co-wrote "The Christmas Song". Throughout his career, he released over 30 studio albums, including "Mel Tormé Sings Fred Astaire" and "Comin' Home Baby!". He collaborated with artists such as George Shearing and Marty Paich.
