Menahem Pressler was a German-American pianist and educator, renowned as the founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio, established in 1955. Born in Magdeburg, Germany, in 1923, he emigrated to Israel in 1939. His career commenced with a victory at the Debussy International Piano Competition in San Francisco in 1946, followed by a debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy. Pressler was also a distinguished professor at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. After the Beaux Arts Trio disbanded in 2008, he pursued a solo career, making his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2013. He passed away in London in 2023 at the age of 99.
