Michael Haydn was an Austrian classical composer, the younger brother of the more famous Joseph Haydn. He worked primarily in Salzburg, where he was a respected composer and conductor. His oeuvre includes over 40 symphonies, numerous sacred works, and chamber pieces. Notable compositions include the Requiem in C minor and Symphony No. 25 in G major. Haydn influenced the young Mozart, and his music is appreciated for its melodic beauty and formal clarity.
