Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis was a Lithuanian composer and painter born in 1875. He studied composition at the Leipzig Conservatory under Carl Reinecke. His notable works include the symphonic poems "In the Forest" and "The Sea". Čiurlionis is considered the founder of Lithuanian professional music. He passed away in 1911.
