Mitch Ryder, born William Sherille Levise Jr., is an American rock singer known for his energetic performances and fusion of rock and roll with rhythm and blues. In the 1960s, he achieved success with the band The Detroit Wheels, recording hits like "Devil with a Blue Dress On" and "Jenny Take a Ride!". After leaving the band, he pursued a solo career, collaborating with producer John Mellencamp on the album "Never Kick a Sleeping Dog".
