Musica Antiqua Köln was a German musical ensemble specializing in the performance of Baroque music on period instruments. Founded in 1973 by Reinhard Goebel and fellow students from the Cologne Conservatory, the group focused on 17th and 18th-century works. Their international breakthrough came in 1979 with a debut in London and performances at the Holland Festival. In 1981, they expanded their focus to include orchestral music. Throughout their career, they received numerous awards, including the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis and the Gramophone Award. The ensemble disbanded in 2007.
