Nada Surf is an American alternative rock band formed in New York City in 1992. Originally named Helicopter, the band changed to Nada Surf, and in 1995, drummer Ira Elliot joined. Their 1996 debut album, "High/Low," featured the hit "Popular." After issues with Elektra Records, they independently released "The Proximity Effect" in 1998. Subsequent critically acclaimed albums include "Let Go" (2002), "The Weight Is a Gift" (2005), and "Lucky" (2008). Their tenth studio album, "Moon Mirror," was released in September 2024.
