The National Philharmonic Orchestra was a British orchestra founded in 1964 by RCA Records producer Charles Gerhardt and concertmaster Sidney Sax. Initially created for recording purposes, the orchestra became renowned for its recordings of film scores and classical repertoire. Notable albums include "The Fantasy Film World of Bernard Herrmann" and "The Mysterious Film World of Bernard Herrmann". The orchestra collaborated with conductors such as Leopold Stokowski and Riccardo Chailly. Although it is no longer active, its recordings remain a significant part of classical music history.
