Neutral Milk Hotel is an American indie rock band founded by Jeff Mangum in the 1990s. Their debut album, "On Avery Island," was released in 1996, followed by "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" in 1998. The latter album achieved cult status and is considered one of the most influential indie rock albums of the 1990s. The band is known for its lo-fi sound and use of unconventional instruments such as the singing saw and uilleann pipes.
