New Regency Orchestra is an 18-piece big band from London, formed in 2021 under the artistic direction of Lex Blondin. Their debut album, released on June 14, 2024, by Mr Bongo, features reinterpretations of Afro-Cuban jazz compositions from the 1950s to the 1970s. The band draws inspiration from the New York scene where jazz and Latin music intertwined, adding a contemporary London twist. The album includes 12 tracks, such as "Pregon," "Sambaroco," and "Mambo Rama." NRO is known for its energetic rhythm section and powerful horn section, creating a dynamic and danceable sound.
